Frequently Asked Questions And Answers

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions. If you’re a new client or a new customer to our website, we encourage that you to read through the relevant questions.

GENERAL CAKE ORDER INFORMATION

Do you have an Order Minimum?

Our Wedding Cake orders strats at $500.00 and our Celebration Cake orders starts at $200.00.

How far in Advance do I need to place an order?

Our schedule gets filled quickly and we ask that you contact us at least three months in advance to place your Celebration Cake order.  We do not have ready-made cakes available for pickup.

Can I walk in and place an Order?

Since we’re a Home Based bakery we ask that you Contact Us and make an appointment first.

Can I order over the phone?

Unfortunately we cannot offer this service but we are more than happy to take enquiries via our Contact Us form.

Do I need to Book a Consultation?

Large custom cake orders requires a consultation. If the cake you’d like is similar to one in our gallery, you do not need to book a consultation. Please Contact Us for more information.

Do I need to place a deposit even if the order is small?

Yes.  A non-refundable, non-transferable cake deposit is required to secure your date.

When is the payment Due?

Full payment is due one month prior to the event date.  If the order is placed within a month of the event, full payment is due when the order is finalized.

Do you design Sculpted Cakes?

We do.  Sculpted cakes consist of cakes carved or shaped into a 3D design of your specification and their pricing differs from traditional tiered cakes.  Visit our Pricing page for more information.

Do you offer Sheet cakes?

Since we design custom cakes we do not offer Sheet Cakes!

Do you offer Dessert Tables?

We only specialize in designing custom cakes and unfortunately do not offer dessert tables!

Do you offer Cupcakes, Cake Pops or Cookies?

Due to the high demand in Wedding Cake and Celebration Cake orders, unfortunately we do not offer Cupcakes, Cake Pops or Cookies.

Do you duplicate cakes?

You may provide a photograph for inspiration however, we do not create exact duplications of the work done by other decorators, as that may violate copyright or other intellectual property of the creator.

What types of payments do you accept?

We accept Cash, Checks and electronic payments such as Google Pay, Person to Person (P2P) payments, Venmo and Zelle.

Due to COVID‐19, to help stop the spread of the virus and to run our home business safe for our customers, we are not accepting cash or checks payments and only accept electronic payments.

Do you offer delivery?

We deliver in Oakland County and surrounding areas but have delivered cakes to Ann Arbor, Detroit, Port Huron, Midland and Lansing.

Please contact us to confirm if we deliver to your location and the applicable delivery fee.

Can I Pick up my Order?

If you’re picking up the cake, make sure that you have a clean, flat surface to set it on while driving. Most cakes are either too large or irregularly shaped to fit in a cake box so you must take special care to protect them. It is the customer’s responsibility to keep the cake cool when transporting it long distance. Please be aware that once you have taken possession of the cake we have no further responsibility for its condition and will not be available to repair any damage that may occur to the cake.

What is your Postponement/Cancellation Policy?

If for any reason the event must be postponed, the Customer must contact Sweet Delights Cakery (SDC) immediately as the requested new date may or may not be available. If the requested new date is not available, SDC reserves the right to cancel the order.

What is the cancellation policy if I pre-order but I cannot make it in to pickup?

Online store cake orders can only be cancelled 14 days before the pickup date.  Unfortunately, no cancellations are allowed within 14 days from the pickup date.

How will I know my order has successfully been placed?

You will receive a confirmation email once the order is placed and please check your spam folder if you don’t see the email in your Inbox.  If you did not receive a confirmation email, please contact us immediately.

What if I want to change the time to pick up my order?

Since each time slot is reserved, please call us immediately if you’re unable to or running late to reschedule your pickup time.

WEDDING CAKE ORDER INFORMATION

Do I need to Book a Consultation?

All wedding cake orders requires a consultation. Please fill out the Schedule a Tasting form and we will contact you to confirm your appointment.

Is the Wedding Cake Tasting/Consultation Free?

No, Wedding Cake Tasting/Consultations requires a pre-payment.

How far in Advance do I need to place the order?

During wedding season our schedule gets filled quickly and we ask that you contact us at least three months in advance to place your order.  If your wedding is less than three months away please Contact Us to inquire if we are available for that day.

Do you design White Buttercream or Naked cakes?

Since we specialize in designing custom cakes, we do not offer White Buttercream or Naked cakes.

Do you offer Sheet cakes?

We do not offer Sheet Cakes.  However, when ordering a Wedding cake, Kitchen Cakes can be ordered as extra servings.  Kitchen cake is an undecorated cake kept in the back to cut and it is has more layers and taller in size compared to a Sheet cake.

Can I pickup my Wedding Cake?

Due to liability issues we do not allow wedding cakes to be picked up.

Can I order our Wedding Cake from your bakery and extra servings cake from another bakery?

Due to liability concerns and to protect our reputation we require all cake servings to be ordered through us.

DIETARY INFORMATION

I have allergies. How will I know which items are safe to order?

We bake with many kinds of nuts including peanuts and tree nuts in our bakery and whilst we have robust cross-contamination prevention procedures in place, we cannot guarantee that our products don’t contain traces of nuts. Although a product may not contain nuts, all products are made in a kitchen that handles nuts.

We bake with care and attention to detail but sometimes a piece of eggshell or fruit seeds can make its way into our cakes.

Do you offer Gluten-Free products?

At this time our bakery does not specialize in recipes for gluten-free products.
